analyzing behaviors Explanation: Integrating behavior analysis into architectural modeling http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11704-014-3505-z Architectural modeling and behavior analysis are two important concerns in the software development. They are often implemented separately, ... p. 5/8 Behaviour Specification Koala supports only a structural view of software architectures and does not allow for behavioural specifications. Indeed, it places its main emphasis on automatic code-generation from structural specifications, rather than early formal analysis of behaviours. http://www.staff.city.ac.uk/c.kloukinas/pubs/seaa-accepted.p... Architecture and behaviour analysis for engineering Service Modes ... http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/5068812/ Engineering services in the framework of an Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is complex and open to mistakes if a rigorous approach is not taken. understanding how the [disparate] elements work together Explanation: I read this rather cryptic phrase as referring to impressing upon the students an appreciation of how all the previously mentioned elements work. "Gaining an appreciation" or "acquiring an understanding" could also be used here. |

evidencing/demonstrating trends Explanation: comportamientos >> tendencias (¿en este contexto?) ...in its [architecture's] inescapable capacity/ability to convey [or transmit] meaning(s)... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 hrs (2017-06-23 16:53:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I think 'trends' works well, as these, depending on their nature, could be thought of as adding meaning(s) to a cityscape, as when art with local relevance (in the form of murals or statues) is incorporated into a city's layout. |

verifying behaviours Explanation: That's what it says, literally - and I wouldn't worry too much about trying to make sense of it. In my opinion, it's just an example of verbal padding, pretentious waffle, usually found in arty contexts, or in this case architecture. Having said that, I think it might sound better if we say "evidencing behaviours" rather than verifying... It just sounds a bit more convincing/meaningful somehow... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2017-06-23 10:14:13 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- NB: I understand "behaviours" to refer to the behaviour of the construction materials, for example degradation from wear and tear, expansion and contraction, etc. (The leaky roof of Calatrava's Music Palace in Valencia could be a recent real-life example). However, Marcelo's suggestion of "tendencies/trends" could also be what they are trying to express. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2017-06-23 10:14:51 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://www.elconfidencial.com/espana/2017-05-05/santiago-cal... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2017-06-23 10:15:13 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://www.archdaily.com/362888/santiago-calatrava-again-fac... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 hr (2017-06-23 10:16:02 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- http://weburbanist.com/2014/02/24/fallen-starchitects-7-fail... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 1 day37 mins (2017-06-24 09:01:16 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- @Catherine: As I mentioned before, IMHO the "inescapable transmission of meaning" bit is pure touchy-feely waffle to round off the sentence.
