Source text - Hebrew מחקרים העוסקים בליקויי למידה ובהפרעות קשב וריכוז בגילאים שונים מצביעים על קשר סיבתי בין כישלונות בלמידה לבין תגובות רגשיות קשות. מדובר על תחושת כמו: תסכול, דימוי עצמי נמוך, אשמה, חרדה בדידות, ועוד.
אחת ההנחות שעלתה ממחקרים אלה, הייתה שהצלחות מובהקות בתחומי עשייה שונים שאינם תלויים במיומנויות למידה פורמאליות עשויות להוות פיצוי שיפוגג את עקבותיהן של תגובות כאלה לפחות באופן חלקי.
והנה, עבודות מחקריות נוספות שהתמקדו בעולמם הרגשי של לקויי למידה בוגרים הצביעו על כך שהטבעותיהן של הפגיעות המתוארות ממשיכות להשפיע עליהם באופן מודע גם אחרי סיום שנותיהם במסגרות הלמידה השונות.
מטרתו של מחקר החלוץ הנוכחי הייתה לבדוק האם הטבעה עמוקה זו קיימת ופועלת גם בחלקים הבלתי מבוקרים והבלתי מכוונים בהווייתם, כלומר בחלומותיהם ובפרשנויותיהם לגביהם.
תוצאות המחקר בו השתתפו לקויי למידה מצליחנים בלבד מצביעות
א. על התמקדות החלומות בתכנים ובסמלים אוניברסאליים.
ב. על קישור חוזר וקיצוני של פרשנות החלומות לכישלונות הלמידה תלויי הליקויים. זאת, למרות האמור לעיל ולמרות חוסר כל דמיון תמטי בין פרשנות זו לבין סיפורי החלומות עצמם.
מסקנות המחקר מצביעות על הפגיעה הרגשית העמוקה והאי-רוורסבילית (בלתי הפיכה ) הנגרמת בגין לקות הלמידה והפרעות הקשב, עד כדי מעורבותה בחומרי התת-מודע המושלכים על תפיסת המציאות ההווית כולה ואף על עיצוב כיווניה לעתיד.
מסקנות אלה חייבות להשפיע על עיבוי דרכי הטיפול הרגשי בסובלים מהסינדרום המדובר מרגע גילויו ולאורך כל צומתי החיים.
Translation - English Research concerned with learning disabilities and attention disorders of various age groups points to a causal relation between learning failure and extreme emotional reactions: frustration, low self-esteem, guilt, anxiety, loneliness and more.
One of the claims that was raised in such studies was that significant success in activities external to formal learning abilities could serve as a reparation and lead, at least partially, to the abating of such extreme reactions.
And lo, further research concentrating on the emotional sphere of graduates with learning disabilities uncovered a phenomenon where the imprint of the described damage consciously continues to affect those graduates even after the finalization of their various study paths.
The goal of the current pioneering study was to test if such deep imprints exist and operate in the uncontrolled and undirected parts of these graduates being, that is to say, in their dreams and their own interpretations of those dreams.
Results of studies where only successful students with learning disabilities show:
a. Focusing of dreams on universal content and symbols.
b. A recurring and extreme connection of the interpretations to disability dependent learning failures. All that despite what was said before and despite the lack of thematic similarities between dream plots and such interpretation.
The conclusions of the study uncover a severe, irreversible emotional trauma caused by the learning disability and attention disorder to the extent of involvement in the unconscious areas which are projected on the perception of existential reality itself and even the shaping of its future directions.
These conclusions must call to action the extending and deepening of emotional treatment methods for those who suffer from said syndrome, from the moment of its detection and throughout the crossroads of life.

Source text - Hebrew היה יושב עם יוסי באחר הצהריים של יום מסוים ומתרגל כתיבת אותיות או חיבור וחיסור. ויוסי היה מביט בפיו של אחיו הבכור, כאילו אין מספיק לשמוע את המילים אלא יש גם לראות אותן, ומנסה בכל כוחו להבין, בעיקר כי בכך רוצה האח הבכור. אולם לאחר עשרים דקות או חצי שעה היו עיניו מזדגגות ומוחו נאטם, אולי משום שלא ראה יותר את המילים היוצאות מפיו של אחיו. כשהיה שם לב האח הבכור שנאטם הזאטוט היה מלטף את שערו או סוטר בחיבה על לחיו ואומר:
"בוא יוסי, בוא נלך לאכול גלידה." ולמגע ידו של אחיו היו נפתחים חלונות עיניו של יוסי, חיוך היה מאיר את פניו והיה קופץ ומחבק את צוואר אחיו בכל כוחו וטומן את פניו בשכמו עד שהתערבב שיערם השחור ולא ניתן היה לקבוע היכן מסתיים זה וזה מתחיל. וכשהיה הבכור מרחיק את פניו של יוסי כדי להביט בהן היו פוגשות עיניו התכולות את חיוכו של יוסי והיה רואה כוכב זורח על מצחו. בהזדמנויות אלה היה תמה האח הבכור מדוע לא רואים האנשים את הכוכב על מצחו של יוסי. רוצים אנו להאמין שאחת הגננות, שהרי רואות הן ילדים כה רבים, הבחינה בכוכב אך למען האמת זוהי בעיקר משאלת לב. ייתכן שהאח, שיהיה טייס, תמיד היה קרוב יותר אל הכוכבים משאר האנשים ולכן הבחין בהם ביתר קלות. לאחר זאת היה מוריד את יוסי לרצפה והיו הולכים יד ביד אל המכולת השכונתית, יושבים על שפת המדרכה לאחר שקנו גלידה ומלקקים בשמש הירושלמית. ידיו ופיו של יוסי היו מתלכלכים מגלידת השוקו הנמסה ואחיו היה אומר: "נו, תראה את הפרצוף שלך, יוסי." ויוסי תמיד היה צוחק כי איך הוא יכול לראות את הפרצוף של עצמו. לפעמים היה מתלכלך מעט יותר בכוונה כדי שיאמר לו אחיו והוא יצחק.
Translation - English He would sit with Yossi on some casual day’s afternoon and practice forming letters or addition and subtraction. Yossi would look at his brother’s mouth – as if it was not enough for him to hear the words but he had to see them too – and try his hardest to understand, above all because his eldest brother wanted him to. But after twenty minutes or half an hour his eyes would glaze over and his brain would wall off, maybe because he could not see his brother’s words anymore. When the eldest noticed his kid brother’s brain had shut down he would stroke his hair or slap him affectionately on the cheek and say: “Come, Yossi, let’s go and get some ice-cream.” And with the touch of his brother’s hand the shutters that covered Yossi’s eyes would lift and his face would light up with a smile. He would jump up and hug his brother’s neck as hard as he could and bury his face in his brother’s shoulder until their black hair interlaced and it was impossible to tell where one ended and the other began. And when the eldest pulled Yossi’s face back a little so he could look at it, his blue eyes would meet Yossi’s smile and he would see a star shining on Yossi’s forehead. On these occasions, he wondered why other people couldn’t see the star. We’d like to believe that at least one of Yossi’s teachers, who saw so many children, noticed the star, but in fact this is no more than wishful thinking. Perhaps the brother, who was to become a pilot, had always been closer to the stars than the rest of the people and consequently noticed them more readily. After that, he would lower Yossi to the floor and they would walk holding hands to the corner shop, sit on the curb and lick their ice-cream under the Jerusalem sun. The melting chocolate ice-cream would stain Yossi’s hands and mouth, and his brother would say: “Look at your face now, Yossi.” And Yossi would laugh because how could he look at his own face? Sometimes he would purposely stain himself a little more so his brother would tell him, and he would laugh.

Source text - English I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daffodils,
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretched in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
The waves beside them danced, but they
Outdid the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay
In such a jocund company!
I gazed, and gazed, but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
As a boy I would translate songs for fun, sometimes simultaneously interpreting them while they were playing. I still do.
