Translation Overview

Full-time translator since 2001. I take great pride in my work and strive to deliver the utmost quality. I also place special emphasis on the human side of working relationships and consider a smooth, open and flowing relationship with my clients as an essential part of the overall process and outcome.

I have spent a great deal of this time translating for prominent organisations in the fields of international cooperation and development, and medical and humanitarian aid, covering virtually every field imaginable within the scope of Operations, Logistics, Human Resources, Finance and Fundraising and Communications, including:

Prior professional experience & further background

Cooperation and Development: 1999-2001
Worked for 3 years in a Spanish humanitarian aid organisation, primarily in Communications, Fundraising, Event Organization and Volunteer Coordination.

Financial Markets: 1987-1999
In a career spanning 13 years, I worked for two of Spain's leading money market brokers, where I specialised in international liaisons (links) and held managerial responsibilities in the areas of International Currency Deposits and Foreign Exchange.

I am also a qualified ESL teacher (Cambridge CELTA certificate), although I teach only on specific, short-term assignments.

Sports Translation
=============

I am a huge sports fan (hobbies include scuba-diving, hiking, football and other sports) and have considerable bilingual knowledge on a wide range of sports, sports jargon and nuances. From 1998 to 2000 I also wrote and edited a weekly bilingual e-letter on the lighter side of English and Spanish football.

I do not, however, have as much working experience in this field as I'd like to - at any rate not enough to call it an area of specialization by my own standards - yet!

While I am aware that KudoZ activity cannot be compared to real translation assignments, my answers to sports-related questions might offer you some insight - please take a look if you can spare the time.
