Bio
Native English speaker (British English).
More than 15 years' experience.
Flexible. I like a challenge and am happy to take on projects that involve new software or other new ways of working. The translation business is changing rapidly and I don't believe in stubbornly holding on to the old ways.
Excellent knowledge of the Dutch language. Having partly grown up in the Netherlands I am able to correctly interpret the source text even if it has been written with incorrectly used idioms, colloquial Dutch, obscure cultural references etc. For this reason I really enjoy translating reviews, open questionnaire answers and other texts written by Dutch people who are not professional writers.
Creative. I enjoy translating blog posts, newsletters, websites and other marketing material and coming up with English equivalents for jokes and cultural references.
I have a master's degree in English language and culture, and a master's degree in applied cognitive psychology.
I do not translate legal or technical texts. Please don't ask me to ;-)
