Hello, everyone! I'm new at ProZ and I apologize in advance if I'm doing this the wrong way.

My question is: in order to make a portifolio for technical translation and avoid copyright infringement, where can I find public domain articles? I'm open to many technical areas, such as engineering, geology (science in general), medical etc. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks very much!

Don't worry about it! Jun 17, 2016

If you were translating someone else's work without their permission and selling it for personal gain, that would be a breach of copyright and they would quite rightly be annoyed.

But if you took something of mine and translated it to put on your website and show what a good translator you were, I'd probably be flattered. That's in the unlikely event that I ever found out.

Wikipedia's texts are not in the public domain, but you may use most of its texts. Just read the license notice.
