¿Cómo se hace eso? Gracias por este detalle importante...xen
Hola, Xen. Cuando tengas un tiempito, por favor modifica tu entrada en el glosario. "Te comiste" el apóstrofe después de parents! ;D ¡Saludos!

Thanks Gerardo also for your input.

Unlike the way it was during our parents' youth, it is now..

OR:

Unlike the way it was for our parents....

This sounds reasonably natural in English and captures the intended meaning. Please see references.

Suerte.

OR, recast the whole sentence as follows:

Unlike our parents, it is much more difficult for us to get [very] far with nothing more than a high school diploma.

[I think that this sounds more natural in English than my first suggestion.]

Another alternative [I think better still]:

It is much more difficult for us than it was for our parents to get [very] far with nothing more than a high school diploma/education.

agree Gert Sass (M.A.) : Unlike the way it was for our parents (or "fathers", to maintain the color)

agree María Eugenia Wachtendorff : I'd go with your "It is much more difficult..." & I don't think "era" is correct. My parents and I live in the same era, don't we? "Our parents' day" sounds good to me.
