Kathryn Litherland (asker) Mar 12, 2010:
reglet/raglet Nikki's definition helped lead me to the term "reglet", which for the case of waterproofing membrane or roof flashing is very precise, although I also was able to hunt down viable English-native examples of both "chase" and "groove" being used to describe an elevated groove cut into a parapet wall and used to anchor the membrane.

Reglet by far appears to be the preferred spelling.

chase

I have the following in my notes, and it may fit your context:

a groove in a wall (or a floor) usually for the building-in of services, such as pipes, conduits or cables or as a raglet for flashing. Chases can be cut into brickwork or formed in the surface of concrete. Pipes in a chase should be encased in flexible conduit or laid in sand to allow for thermal movement, After the services are installed, chases are filled with mortar for finishings to be applied over them
Note from asker:
Thanks for your answer, Nikki--I hope it will be useful to other users searching for "roza" in other contexts.
