Spanish to English Bus/Financial Construction / Civil Engineering
I am working from a pdf, so I have put my rough draft of the sentence below instead of the original. I think cobertura might be ground cover/landscaping, or barriers, but neither of these seem to fit with the other items in the list. TIA!!!!


"The stated purpose of the Company is the realisation and execution of all types of public and private civil engineering projects such as dual carriageways, motorways, paths and roads of all kinds, as well as railways, urban developments, channels, waterways, harbours, coberturas, sewer systems, waster systems, etc."

What about paving/asphalting? That fits, I just don't know if you can use cobertura like that.

I agree with Monkey's suggestion (which I can't find right now for some reasons) and would ask the client. This term is too general and can be translated in too many ways to run the risk, IMO.

Yes, S. Ben, Roofs/roofing seem rather petty next to the other projects. That's why I suggestion "shelters" in my added note, for I've never heard of "coberturas" referring to "ground cover" or landscape". "Shelters" are also referred as "coberturas". Well, whichever, I hope you get what you need!

Monkey I think you should ask your client. Why say cobertura if he meant paisajismo? Why say roofing if he meant sheds or warehouses? I think guessing might be an error.

Roof The problem I have with roofs is that it doesn't fit with any of the other things in the list. The rest are large scale civil engineering projects. So it just doesn't add up. PS - thanks for the suggestion, I did change it.

This could also be "SHELTERS" as we sometimes find outside railways stations, i.e. just a framework with a roof.
