True! Tough not quite different since it might be on the cooled side of the cooling circuit. But indeed you're right, "cooled water" = "eau refroidie" or "eau réfrigérée".

: 'header' can't be translated as 'clapet', which wouldn't make sense in the context here, no more than your suggested translation would. I think your idea amounts to over-interpretation here.

There seems to be something grammatically awry with the ST sentence: 'valves is'??
This kind of makes me suspect a non-native writer, which in turn makes me wonder about the use of the verb 'to strike' here?
Anyway, in the sense of a supply header, 'nourrice' is commonly used; not quite so confident about its use for the return side of things.
And normally, 'chilled' water would be 'réfrigérée', since it means water that has been deliberately lowered in temperature, so not just 'froide' = (not heated) or 'frâiche' (= pleasantly cool or fresh)

The information I had about the "header" was "It’s a central connection for the chilled water pipes"
I also have for example " Chilled Water Header - Supply / Return Motorized Valves Fail to Open /Communication Failure"
BUT we have already had several questions (and I have encountered the term in my own documents) on 'nourrice', where it was definitely nothing like a 'header tank', so I think there is a wider range of possible meanings.
