..In my modest opinion, these definitions do not give a qualitative judgement, whereas "बेहतर हों, गुणवत्तापूर्ण" definitely put a positive tone, do you think that the translation can be more 'neutral'? I understand what you are pointing at, however I hesitate to impart a non-neutral light on this text which is different from the tone of the source

@ललित भाई ऑपरेशन स्माइल के लिए डॉक्टरों, पैरामेडिक्स और नर्सों के लिए आवश्यक दस्तावेजीकरण में संचित सूचनाओं के उपयोग में बार-बार to inform का उपयोग रोगियों को सूचित करने (Patient's right to know) के संदर्भ में होता आया था। ऐसा लगता है कि पश्चिम में रोगियों को हर कदम पर सूचित रखना, उपचार करने जितना ही महत्वपूर्ण है। बस उस चीज को दिमाग में रख कर मैने इस अनुवाद का प्रस्ताव किया था। बाकी अनुवाद तो है ही पुनःरचना, इसलिए विविधता स्वाभाविक है। विस्तृत संदर्भ की अनुपस्थिति में संभावनाएं भी असीम हैं।

दरअसल चाहा यह जा रहा है कि "patient assessment and health interventions" बेहतर हों, गुणवत्तापूर्ण हों और इसके लिए पहले से मौज़ूद documentation की मदद ली जा रही है। यहाँ रोगी को सूचित करना मुख्य उद्देश्य नहीं है।

एक और उदाहरण देखें - The aim of the project is to develop and test a prototype Network of Knowledge to inform policy-making and economic actors in the field of biodiversity...

@Piyush Ojha पीयूष जी, मेरी समझ से यहाँ कुल मिलाकर कहा यह जा रहा है कि जो दस्तावेजीकरण/प्रलेखन मौज़ूद है यानी जो संचित ज्ञान है हमारे पास, उसका सदुपयोग रोगी के आंकलन इत्यादि को बेहतर ढंग से करने में किया जाए। यानी, दस्तावेजीकरण द्वारा संचित ज्ञान का उपयोग आंकलन इत्यादि को अधिक गुणवत्तापरक बनाने में इस्तेमाल किया जाए। ऐसा ही एक वाक्य देखिए ... experienced nurses' tacit knowledge could be used to inform patient assessment...

जहाँ तक हस्तक्षेप शब्द की बात है, हो सकता है शुरुआत में यह एक शाब्दिक अनुवाद रहा हो, लेकिन अब तो "चिकित्सीय हस्तक्षेप" चलन में है और अर्थ को स्पष्ट करता है।

ललित जी ने inform का जो अर्थ ऑक्सफ़ोर्ड डिक्शनरी से उद्धृत किया है वह सही है किन्तु डिक्शनरी में दिए गए वाक्य -- religion informs every aspect of their lives -- की तुलना में मूल वाक्य में inform का अर्थ 'हलका' है। Inform का प्रयोग take congnizance of के अर्थ में किया गया है -- They effectively utilize this documentation by taking cognizance of it in patient assessment and health interventions.

वे इस दस्तावेज़ का प्रभावी उपयोग रोगियों के आकलन और स्वास्थ्य सम्बन्धी क़दम उठाने में इसका संज्ञान लेकर करते हैं।
