That's interesting. Here are some "billboards météo" in French. They won't play on my computer, so I'm not sure what they are. But perhaps billboard is the correct word in English.

I realize but in English we don't call a short commercial a billboard, which is the meaning I'm looking for. I'm wondering if there is an advertising term for a very short commercial, as per the Treccani definition.

It already is an English word. "billboard" is an English word, but in Italian it seems to have acquired a completely different meaning. How about "very short TV advertisement"?

I agree with philgoddard, commercial sounds to me more appropriate in English than spot, to describe tv advertising.

Wordreference proposes the world spot among the possible translations for commercial.

That's what I have always heard them referred to as... or else Ross 85's "commercial".

Have also heard "spot" but not as much.
