Yes, 'ammarare' or 'ammarrare'... ... also means 'fasten', 'secure', 'anchor'.

Ammarrare: fissare saldamente a una struttura solida, specie in costruzioni di linee telefoniche o elettriche.

fix to

"connect to" would mean to connect in such a way that the substance passing through the pipework (a gas or a liquid) would then pass through the other pipe...which is not the meaning of the text. What it means is that you must not use any other pipework or cable trays etc. as the fixing for new pipework.

ammarare is used badly here as it means to moor or dock, but it means do not connect things to or install on
