Italian term

in parte organizzata

Italian to English Medical Medical (general) CT scan results
This is a CT scan of a man who has been in a RTA and suffered a ruptured spleen. He has had his spleen removed. "Raccolta fluida in parte organizzata di circa 4 cm in sede sottodiaframmatica sin." Can anybody explain how this "in parte organizzata" fits in here? I understand that there is a collection of fluid in his left subdiaphragm, but am completely stuck with this other part of the sentence. Thanks for everybody's help.

Concordo, è tutto OK, non è mai una perdita di tempo confrontarsi e discutere in KudoZ, specialmente poi se l'asker è cortese e 'fair' come tu ti sei dimostrata, :) Buon lavoro, Anna Rosa
Claudia Cherici Jul 4, 2011:
all's well! :-)
Heather Phillips (asker) Jul 4, 2011:
As I said to Claudia, I thought that "organised" sounded strange in this context so I didn't even check to see if this was the right term before posting the question, as I should have, but I accept that this is indeed correct and apologise for wasting your time. I wasn't doubting Claudia's version, simply stating that I hadn't thought it sounded likely and so didn't consider it before she suggested it.
ARS54 Jul 4, 2011:
...Scusa, Heather, è molto strano che tu nn abbia mai incontrato la versione proposta da Claudia, che non è affatto 'bad', e ben presente in letteratura... Puoi ad esempio leggere la seguente ref, **di autori 'native'**, peraltro:-
Stuart G. Silverman, Richard H. Cohan - 2006 - Medical - 279 pagine
"...In the other form, gas is interspersed throughout the renal parenchyma and there is ***no organized fluid collection***. The prognosis is worse in patients ..."

organized is very often used in medicine, organized hematoma, organized tissue etc. Don't be sorry!

Note from asker:
Sorry, I couldn't find any references with an English translation, and would never have guessed that it means this as it sounds too literal and like a bad translation... "Organised" sounds odd here, but thanks.

I get the impression that the fluid is 'organised' together..so 'concentrated' in one place... I'm sure someone else will know for sure though!
