Why not?
2. A secondary site-specific scale in which the area of focus involves both the zone of transition between the urban
plaza and its immediately adjacent commercial zone as well as the urban plaza itself. This scale will involve
proposed physical interventions between sections of both the commercial area, urban plaza, and zone of transition.

Her monograph, The Urban Image of Augustan Rome (Cambridge University Press, 1996), explores the design implications of urban development under the first emperor. In this work she analyses the symbiotic relationship between physical interventions and conceptual shifts in the imaging of a capital city. An outgrowth of this research is the exploration of conceptual parallels between the physical topography of ancient Rome and the temporal topography of the Roman ritual calendar.

structural operations

"manmade interference," "people intervention"
Buon lavoro!

structural alterations
I feel that 'alterations' fits here better than 'operations'
