Sorry Sorry, Can, I was not referring to you. I just wanted to let all those willing to help me that I don't want what is called here in Japan "JapaneseEnglish" (Japan-made English) terms, which in some cases are widely used and accepted here as correct even if not so, just because they match the Japanese word. Since I'm not an English native speaker and sometimes can't tell the difference, I felt I needed to make this point clear, that's all. And thanks for your comments and help!

I wasn't aware that I was giving you a rough translation. My answer is the one that is commonly used in the U. S. Sorry if I gave you the wrong impression.
Non-ProZ.com May 11, 2005:
Term Thank you all. I don't want a rough translation; I'd like to know what term is used in English speaking countries when refering to this kind of welfare service, even if it doesn't match the Japanese name.

Thank you, and also for correcting my oversight and posting a US reference.
agree sumc : If the US alone is concerned, it is "Medicaid" The PDF link (Medicaid) uses "Long-term care" for "介護." See http://www.vsb.org/publications/senior/04pdf_files/medicaid....

Medicaid offers one form of this, so it provides a great reference. Thank you.
