Although pit house is also seen on the net, "pit dwelling" seems to be used more often with reference to the Jomon period. "Pit dwellings" is also used on the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art site:

Pit-house remains

I think 構造 is not necessary in this context, but it could be construction of pit-house remains.
