: Being the direct translation from the Japanese, this was what I first thought also. However, this expression got so few Google hits (only 24, not all relevant) that I don't believe it is in common usage.

新製品の立ち上げ（会社によって呼び方は多少異なりますがProgram/Product Launch とか Start of Production ("SOP")とか呼びます）は徐々に生産スピード・数を上げて生産開始時から１−５週間位かけて量産数量の生産を達成させるケースが多く、（特に作業者による組み付け等の手作業が必要な製品）この場合、日々の生産数を示すグラフ上では量産数量に達するまでは斜線若しくは曲線が描かれます。 垂直立上げの場合は生産初日から量産数量を達成させる為、グラフの線が垂直となります。 垂直立上げは人間の介入が殆ど無い製品、つまり、プログラムされた設備や機械が生産する製品（例えは鋼材や単純な型出し部品等）に関しては設備の準備（プログラミングやバグ取り）が整えば可能です。
