Norwegian term

guttete

Norwegian to English Marketing Marketing / Market Research
"Det var veldig guttete". Svar i markedsundersøkelser on brusprodukter, design, logo osv. Kommentaren gjelder emballasjon til et brusprodukt. Her mener jeg at "boyish" ikke passer in - ordet har helt andre nysanser enn det jeg er ut etter i konteksten. "Macho" blir for sterkt her, mener jeg. Kanskje "maskulin" er det mest nøytrale løsning? Any ideas?

Discussion

Non-ProZ.com Sep 1, 2004:
Thanks all! It was a close thing between guyish and boyish in my opinion, but my perception is that boyish in addition has connotations which tend toward puerility and femininity. This is not the case with guyish, I believe.
Thank you for all your contributions!

Hvis du mener guttete i motsetning til jentete, går det kanskje an å gjøre det så enkelt? Mannish er vel like galt som boyish...

just some of the suggestions in my thesaurus - I looked under Male and Masculine.

The other suggestions would never apply to a bottle...

boyish

I can't see anything wrong with "boyish". Males of all ages are often referred to as boys, particularly when stressing an ("immature") male sense of fun - e.g. "boys will be boys"; "one of the boys"; "the boy in him"; "just a big boy". I think all these other male terms have the wrong connotations.
