I agree with Leif, that this is not really Norwegian, but I don't think it means 'skid' in this context. To me, skidding is something more accidental, rather than intentional as in this case.

This is basically not Norwegian, probably taken more or less directly from English. The Norwegian meaning would be 'skyve' or 'sleide'.

Well, I did not intend to shoot you down :) I guess slide would also be perfectly understood in this context, but as long as the source seems to have stolen skid directly from English, it might be appropriate here.
