I graduated as a Civil Engineer from Edinburgh University and then spent a year at the ETH in Zurich as an "auditor student" - where I mainly learned German!

After a few years working in England I moved to Frankfurt and worked there in technical marketing for a range of products called geosynthetics sold into the end-uses earthworks, road and rail construction, hydraulic engineering, geotechnical engineering.

For all that time, in addition to my normal job I was responsible for writing and translating marketing material between English and German.

I am now active as a translator German -> English, mainly in the areas described above, but also in Civil Engineering generally.
