Es la traducción de un artículo para una revista de botánica.
"El tala (Celtis ehrenbergiana) es un árbol con espinas que posee propiedades medicinales, brinda alimento y refugio a otras especies y protege el ambiente."
La persona que redactó el artículo realizó la traducción y yo estoy haciendo correcciones.
En la traducción dice: "...This is a tree of high ecological value, protecting the environment"
Mi duda es si esa frase no es redundante. Al tener un alto valor ecológico, no estamos diciendo que protege al medio ambiente?

Translate the full text, whether or not it is redundant
My advice to you is that you leave the full text, so that the TT is an accurate rendition of the ST. In my opinion, whether the ST is redundant is irrelevant for the purposes of translation.
For editorial purposes in general, I do not think that the text is redundant. It does not necessarily follow that just because a tree has high ecological value that it protects the environment, or vice versa.
