Spanish term

casos familiares

Spanish to English Medical Medical (general)
I'm translating an article about multiple eruptive dermatofibromas [dermatofibromas eruptivos múltiples] which talks about other conditions and diseases that this is associated with.

The text says: "Alrededor del 70% de los casos se presentan en personas con alguna enfermedad de base ... también hay asociaciones con ... dermatitis atópica (incluso **casos familiares**, puede estar relacionado con la alteración del sistema inmune que presenta esta dermatosis) ...."

I'm not sure how to translate 'casos familiares' because I don't understand atopic dermatitis and the connection with the immune system.

How do I translate 'casos familiares' in this context?

Thanks much for your help.

Related/Familiar cases

"Familiares" refers to those cases similar to the ones they're describing. It has nothing to do with someone's family if you thought about it :)

similar cases

people with problems in their inmune system, usual, not always, suffer from dermatitis. That´s why there are "similar cases", meaning other sickness or symptons derived from either an inmune system pathology or simple and regular dermatitis.
Hope it´s hopeful!
