Comment: "Thanks both. I thought I’d do a safety check on this word. Any compound with the prefix ‘Schleif-‘ is a potential pratfall. I am relieved to be reassured that this has absolutely nothing to do with ‘loop’, though why miners would need a ‘loop-through trough’ is anyone’s guess. The purpose of a ‘grinding trough’ does not concern me greatly now that the translation has been sent off."
