kV - not KV V is capitalized because it is named after Alessandro Volta - but the "k" is not. Only "M" for Mega is capitalized - to distinguish it from "m" for "milli". As a rule, all unit names that are named after persons are capitalized (Kelvin, Celsius, Ohm, Henry, Hertz, Faraday, Ampere, Joule, Watt, Pascal, etc.) but abbreviations of non-proper names are not ("g' for gram) with the exception of "L' for liter/litre to avoid confusion with the numeral "1" (one).

trafo is short of "transformer" of course - no need to change. Another abbreviation (US) is XFMR.
