German term

Akten sind gegen ihn ergangen

German to English Law/Patents Law (general)
From Leipzig police records, dated 1921:

"Herr Sch. hat sich durch seinen, am 16.6.20 von der Gesandschaft der ukrainischen Republik in Berlin ausgestellten Reisepaß hier ausgewiesen; gegen ihn sind die beiliegenden Akten S. 44516 ergangen."

How is the word "ergangen" used here? Does it refer to charges filed against him?

The casefile 44516 has been opened on him

"Mr. Sch. has deported himself here by means of his passport issued by the Embassy of the Ukrainian Re public in Berlin on 16.6.20; the enclosed casefile p. 44516 has been opened on him."

disagree Adrian MM. : A lazy answer. Akten is in the plural so not a single case file. besides which Akten *anlegen* would - even back then- have meant to open such https://www.archivportal-d.de/item/JPLXAVBSA35Z7OWJ7SKTJOTEI... // And the shrink for your big head.

file updated with / papers issued

I think this is just talking about his file being updated with a new record. Can also just be papers issued especially given the context of immigration.

agree Adrian MM. : with 'records of charges /publicly/ issued against him' e.g. 'im Namen des Volks ergeht folgendes Urteil...' // 'Extrakte aus den Akten, so in publicis (in öffentlichen Angelegenheiten) ergangen'.
