After the initial shock of the outburst, the play continued while my mother placed a graceful hand on my shoulder and helped me back into my seat. I was appalled by the injustice. The tickets may have been a gift, but I wanted my money back. How was anyone supposed to get to the Emerald City if no one would ever actually show the road? Why keep the road a secret?! Мне кажется, здесь просто имеется в виду, что это было громко/эмоционально (буквально "шепот на детской громкости", потому что ребенок, переполненный эмоциями, вряд ли может тихо прошептать), но лучше не повторять в переводе "детский, по-детски", это слишком буквально.
