Catalan term

lliurador

Catalan to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals
This appears in a pharmaceutical inspection report under the section on sampling.

La cabina disposa d’un SAS d’accès de material i de personal i dins la cabina hi ha un flux laminar, a sota del qual es fa el mostreig. Usen lliuradors d’un sol ús, tot i que també tenen validada la neteja de material d’acer inoxidable, però manifestaren que no els usen.

Discussion

Helena Chavarria Apr 29, 2019:
Lliurador probably means the scoop, ladle, spoon, pipette or device used to obtain the sample.
Erzsébet Czopyk Apr 29, 2019:
Jeanna, I contacted Mr OVAD, he is an expert in this area from PHARMAVALID Metrology Laboratory http://www.pharmavalid.hu/en/measurement/measurement 1.html . We discussed your question on the phone which is very much confusing. In the clean room, there are samples to be examined, they can arrive (to be delivered) in special containers to avoid any microbiological contamination. They might be single-use containers but the confusing part is that "de material d’acer inoxidable, però manifestaren que no els usen." In fact, the whole surface is made of stainless steel :) disposable single-use connectors can be used when filling a sample. (Regarding the weighing room, it is used to control the emission of hazardous material (see the images). The solution is not mine and I am very grateful the helpful links/clarification if he ever will come here.
Natalia Pedrosa Apr 29, 2019:
Hi again Totally.
Natalia Pedrosa Apr 29, 2019:
Hi Jeanne *lliurador" means "expendedor* in Spanish. I looked it up in Word reference and this is the terrn it gave me.

Jeanne Zang (asker) Apr 29, 2019:
another context Okay, I just found the same word in the context of weighing rooms. S’usen lliuradors d’acer inoxidable, els quals netegen amb una rentadora automàtica. Would "conveyor" make sense?
Jeanne Zang (asker) Apr 29, 2019:
This is the only context I have.
And I do not believe the word is a mistake. These reports are done by department in the Catalan Ministry of Health and they are very well written.
Erzsébet Czopyk Apr 29, 2019:
http://translationpost.com/ In the translation industry, both customers and suppliers are subject to incentives that encourage poor translations: high levels of competition, in part due to improved machine translation, have been exerting a downward pressure on prices, such that even big industry names now offer bargain basement rates; at the same time, German customers rarely understand that time-consuming editorial adjustments and judicious adaptation are required to generate a professional outcome in English, and, unable to accurately assess the quality of English writing delivered by translation providers, tend to prefer “direct” translations that seem faithful in a superficial way but are actually quite stilted.
Erzsébet Czopyk Apr 29, 2019:
@Jeanne Could you please provide a bit more context? Is there any mention about the containers?
Natalia Pedrosa Apr 29, 2019:
To Erzsébet I'm not mistaken. Let's see what other Catalan speakers have to say. Stop. And pleae, leave me alone. Thanks.
Erzsébet Czopyk Apr 29, 2019:
to Natalia Pedrosa You shall not draw the native card out. You can check my KudoZ-profile and see that I regularly posted answers in many language pairs. It is not just offensive when you try to humiliate someone just for being not native.
I am still very much interested what kind of delivery system is within a clean area. the only thing that can be "delivered" is the air exhausted through HEPA filters.
https://www.ulpatek.com/urunler/system-equipments/laminar-fl...

And you are a certified PRO, too. There is no delivery system. Pharma companies translate texts to different languages then retranslate those translations to the original again to check the mistakes. This is a classical example how a mistake can be recognized. Obviously the word "lliurador" is a mistake. If you interested, please check my answers about clean area from English to Russian posted last week.

Think different. And think next time before suggesting anyone posting aswers only in their native language. You even do not know what is the text about but hate a person who posts an anwer because she is not native. To recognize a mistranslation, you do not have to be a native.

They use (cleanroom) dispensers for disposables, although they validated the cleanliness of stainless steel material, but they told that they don't use them.
Peer comment(s):

agree Adrian MM. : Indeed, lliurador equates in Castilian with librador & entregador. Whilst delivery system is the right idea, dispenser would def. be the term used in UK etc. hospitals.

disagree Erzsébet Czopyk : Could you tell me how it is related to clean area and sampling? Please post a link to justify. I translated a lot about clean areas and being a native does not mean you have the right completely mislead the asker. What kind of delivery system???

Could you please restrict your answer to your native languages? Thank you.//A "lliurador" means something that delivers. What I don't know is what is being delivered here, as the context does not specify it.// Hi Erzsébet: You should know Catalan to answe
