L’idea piace anche alla monarchia italiana, visto che Venezia è vicina all’impero austroungarico, che fino a poco tempo prima era stata nemica e il re e la regina verranno a inaugurare la prima edizione della Biennale,
La sede, chiamata il Palazzo delle Esposizioni, è composta solo da un salone e nove sale e presenta una facciata classicheggiante con un timpano sormontato da aquile e da una Vittoria alata, che però è solo una scenografia realizzata in gesso e finto marmorino.
