Devo correggermi. In questo caso non si traduce come \"American\". Nel dizionario di Zingarelli ho trovato la descrizione per la parola \"americana\": traliccio disposto trasversalmente alla soffitta di un teatro per sostenere elementi pesanti quali batterie di proiettori, siparietti e sim.
In inglese lo tradurrei come: framework, trestle or pylon.
