(temporary) research associate/research fellow

Hi Giovanna
like research associates and fellows, "assegnisti di ricerca" usually have a PhD. "Research assistants" have a bachelor's or a master's at most.

Would an English-speaking reader see the difference between a "borsa" and an "assegno" (both competitively awarded)? Hard to tell.

temporary research assistant

Different universities have different titles - could be "research fellow", depending on level. However, "temporary research assistant" is clear and unambiguous in all contexts.

Thank you. I would amend my contribution to read contracted-out reseach assignor.

neutral Alfredo Tutino : Victor, the "Assegnista" is a person. The word is used only in this context, and means "titolare di assegno" (di ricerca) - it's burocracy's jargon
