This phrase comes up in a chest X-ray report [RX TORACE 2P].
One sentence says "... si apprezza comparsa di estesi versamenti pleurici **ai piani basali** ... il versamento e' maggiore a destra ... etc."
Another sentence (in a later image) says "Permane soffusione pleurogena *al piano basale* estesa posteriormente con interessamento della pala inferiore della grande scissura."
Can I just translate this as 'in the bases'/'in the base' or is there a more exact translation of this?
(Also, I wouldn't mind an explanation of what is the 'pala inferiore')
