Italian term

Ate

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Metallurgy / Casting Forno fusorio ad arco
Description of a fumes extraction and reduction system for an arc furnace.

Portata acqua di raffreddamento camicia (pressione ca. 3 Ate, innalzamanto temperatura ca. 20 degrees): m3/h. 100;

Eurodicautom gives Ate as atm.g - please could someone confirm this for me in the above context.
Thanks in advance!

Discussion

Gian Jun 16, 2006:
OK then you can say "relative or gauge pressure of about 2 bar (or 200 kPa)". Some people use to say bar r. bar a. (r = relative, a = absolute) but it is not correct as bar is a unit of pressure; I prefer to specity that we are dealing with rel. pressure
Amy Christie (asker) Jun 16, 2006:
It mentions both 3 Ate and 2 Ate!
Gian Jun 16, 2006:
Are we speaking of 2 or 3?????
Gian Jun 16, 2006:
Yes.. the difference as I said is very small; I believe that to day you cannot find gauges in at; they were in kg/cm² and now they are in bar or kPa; so you can say about 3 bar or about 300 kPa (= kilopascal)
Amy Christie (asker) Jun 15, 2006:
Thanks so much for all this info! I am glad for the help as it is a little over my head. Would it be, therefore, that 'ca. 2 Ate' is 'ca. 2 bar'? Thanks again
Amy Christie (asker) Jun 15, 2006:
Thanks for your note Gian how would I work out the quivalent of 3 Ate? Thanks for your help.

ate = relative technical atmosphere

1 at = atmosfera tecnica = technical atmosphere = 1 kg/cm² = 98,0665 kPa
mentre
atm = atmosfera = standard atmosphere = 1,01325 kg/cm² = 101,325 kPa

e = effective or relative

Mc-Graw Hill Company

3 ate = 3 kg/cm² = 294,2 kPa = 2,942 bar ovvero circa 3 bar

Io in parentesi metterei: relative pressure of 294,2 kPa

In tedesco si chiamano
ata (assoluta)
