My ex- girlfriend was a translator (in-house), and actually we cooperated very well, as I wrote as to another poll, she introduced me to some clients... I guess I would not marry a translator, but actually I would never marry someone who has the same job as me, whatever the job is, for "safety reasons", something may go wrong, but it would not involve both. | | | Thayenga Germany Local time: 05:57 Member (2009) English to German + ...
However, I'd prefer that we'd be working in different fields and/or language pairs simply to avoid problems that might arise if we worked in the same areas. | | | My wife is an ESL teacher | Nov 7, 2010 |
... though she was an executive secretary when we married. She moved back to teaching afterwards. Our home policy is: I don't teach, she doesn't translate.

Although I have never been big on the idea of marriage and nuclear family relationships per se, I don't see why not. I occasionally collaborate with one of my exes on translation jobs and we make a great team. | | | Yes, why not? | Nov 7, 2010 |
I'd be delighted to. Offers in writing, please, with photo (of recent bank statement). Jenny

I can't imagine basing a marriage decision on profession. So yes, in theory, I would. But I'm already spoken for and have no translators clamouring at my door ...
i wouldn't choose a mate specifically based on profession although there might be a few that would deter me....however translator is ok. I'm not in a big hurry to marry anyone. But i think Targama has a point...single translators can certainly find each other here on Proz! Remind me to get a really good photo of myself...LOL! Of course, it would be hard since most of us are scattered through the globe. | | | @Jenny Forbes | Nov 7, 2010 |
