I think facebook can be very useful if you run a green travel business, or a funky clothes webshop, or sell fair trade jewelery, or for other 'lighter side of life' shops. In those cases, interests, social life and business can intersect. At least with regard to the things I translate, this is not usually the case so I would not consider using facebook for this.

and not for anything at all really! I am not a member, will never be a member, etc.! They only want your data for advertising, or to use you, so not with me!

And I don't plan on ever creating a facebook profile. Wishing those who celebrate it a Happy Easter!

I do not use Facebook at all.
In my opinion, being a facebook user is discrediting for a professional.
I use it for contact with relatives and friends. And that's me, mommy, daughter, friend. Not me the translator. I do not think my clients or colleagues wish to know how many dipers I had to change or how much fun we had at the zoo. It is nice for my parents to keep in touch and follow their grandchildren from a distance. I use twitter though for working purposes and it even got me a lot of jobs too.

Multiple services | Mar 31, 2013 |
We have a facebook page where we market several different services and make different resources available. It works great for our language support classes and people love the worksheets and games that we share. We haven't received any translation work through the page. We are linked with several other translation agencies and video game developers, so we do enjoy seeing what every one else is upto.

And I don't plan to do it. Plus I don't even have a FB profile nor I'd like to.

Facebook is for family and friends | Mar 31, 2013 |
Pretty much sums it up. While I have occassionally shared pix of some of the stuff I do in my free time with a few (very few) project managers, these tend to be people whom I have worked with for several years, and we run it through personal email, not company or professional.
