Lightheartedly Because, recently, a large percentage of them seem to be originated by this person 'who-shall-not-be-named' called Anonymous, most probably a.k.a. Proz.com staff. If you can't put a name behind an opinion or idea, then it really doesn't warrant a well-thought-out reply or serious discussion. You might as well start off each Anonymous poll topic with "Rumour has it that..." or "Current opinion is that...." IMHO

You just made my day, Julian. Regards, Natalia
In principle, truthfully, I enjoy the polls and check them daily, though I wish that the same questions weren’t asked over and over again and “Anonymous” could become “nonymous”…

Why on earth would I respond otherwise? I have better things to do with my time than try to mislead people just for the sake of it.
... with my usual heavy-handed passion if it is one of my hobby-horses... If I can't face the truth, I chicken out and don't answer at all.

Elizabeth Tamblin wrote: How do we know if any of the answers to this poll are true? Exactly what I was thinking! People who lie on polls may be doing it maliciously, or impishly, or just because lying is what they do. So maybe chronic liars are lying on this one--meaning, perhaps, that they usually DO answer truthfully and are now lying about that fact? Now I'm starting my Saturday with a headache. Jane

Now that WOULD be an interesting poll... | Sep 2, 2017 |
I knew someone would raise this point Elizabeth Tamblin wrote: How do we know.... ... if any of the answers to this poll are true? Can anyone devise a poll that makes allowances for the Epimenides Paradox, the 'All Cretans are liars' story? http://david.tribble.com/text/liar.htm Something on the lines of "How would a liar answer this question?", I believe Or: "How would you answer this question if you were lying?" See what I mean? I was telling the truth all along, and you set me off on a hobby-horse!
