All of the above + I have been seeing my doctors regularly + since my knee operation I have a physio who comes 3 times a week to help my recovery. | | | | Sebastian Witte Duitsland Local time: 03:18 Member (2004) uit Engels in Duits + ... | List of six health-related activities | Oct 17, 2025 |
I do the following, listed in descending order of priority and with the exception of # 6 (a daily operation, approx. 358 days a year), pursued with descending frequency
1. Eat healthy and stay hydrated.
2. Exercise, go for walks, or help with the housework.
3. Sleep well. This is not intended to offend translation buyers, as cardiologists have found that seven hours of sleep per night are necessary to maintain a healthy heart. That's why I need my seven hours.

4. Take vitamins or supplements.
5. Wash hands and avoid crowds (COVID-19 is going around again!).
6. Work hard in the office. I know this is counterproductive to staying healthy. However, with no money, I can't do anything for my health.

I do not only do all the options mentioned above, but also I socialize, go to church and do volunteer. It makes me feel delighted to continue working in new translations or any language-related projects, which are sometimes very isolated. | | | | texjax DDS PhD Local time: 21:18 Member (2006) uit Engels in Italiaans + ...
🛌 Sleep -> N/A 😄
🥗💦 Nutrition & hydration -> Nourishment: on point (but with room for improvement). Hydration: let’s just say overhydration isn’t one of my problems. 💧
🏋️♀️ Exercise -> In a solid week, I can slam 5–6 cardio and toning classes. 💪💃🎶 Some people go to church; I go to group fitness. 😇
💊 Supplements -> Seldom. Who actually remembers to take them anyway? 🤷♂️

I don't make a conscious effort to do any of the things listed in the poll question on a regular basis. And several of them I have never done at all.
I do, however, aim to maintain a stress-free life-style.
For me, that centres on being authentic in my gender identity and expression, while quietly enjoying retirement in the foothills of the Andes mountains.

As someone who has had a lot of weird sleep schedules I learned that sleeping well is like 98% priority into a healthy life. Being well rested helps with concentration, learning, stress, immunity and a lot of other things, because of that, I consider that good sleep is a necessity.

I go to my primary care doctor for annual checkups, I do physical therapy when warranted (i.e., I don't wait for worsening symptoms), I take the prescribed medications as directed, I exercise every other day, I walk a lot. These are variations on a theme: be proactive, take preventive action, know your numbers (A1c, cholesterol, healthy weight, etc.) and act accordingly.

I'm puzzled by this. You seem to be assuming that someone else does the housework and that you would only do it as part of your keep-fit regime. So not scrubbing the toilet then.... | | | | IrinaN (X) Verenigde State Local time: 20:18 uit Engels in Russies + ... | I do what I want | Oct 19, 2025 |
Save some basic hygienic habits and checkups usual for a civilized human being, I don’t give a fly. I don’t follow any diets. I get my vitamins and minerals from clean freshly cooked food and produce, I cook from scratch because I love doing it, I don’t drink any more water than I want to. I live the way I enjoy in every sense, which is the only way to maintain healthy levels of serotonin and dopamine. Diets and antidepressants often go hand in hand.
Here is one grim and tacky, but not so untrue joke:
Colleague, just look at this bull’s heart, pristine liver and incredibly clear lungs, like baby’s!
Yes, colleague, now stitch him up.
I don’t want to live longer, I want to live to the fulliest from every dawn to every sunset I have, and all I have is today, nothing more is ever guaranteed.
A few months left before 70. I’m quite happy with what I see in the mirror - no deep wrinkles, no dark spots, no black circles under the eyes, clear complexion, no bulging veins anywhere. I must be doing something right ▲ Collapse

But old age will catch you no matter how healthy you are. In my case it's spinal stenosis. The pain can be managed but it becomes dominant in everything you do. One architect friend says it was me spending years and years bent over a drawing table. It's a theory,
Physiotherapy helps.

But until then … the world is all mine. Some day I’ll be hoping for a quick and peaceful way out, but this seems to be an award given only to the best. But for now I’m about to start another day and enjoy it coming back from New York, where we celebrated my friend’s of 52 years 70th birthday. 😜😸 life goes on.
I enjoyed Dublin pubs last October too!
