I have to reinstall Office 97 & 2000 and would like to save the customized dictionaries, that are modified each time I press "Add" while I check the spelling in a file.
Can this be done?

Look for the "custom.dic" file on your computer or others with the extension DIC, if you have named your own user's files. Copy and save them somewhere.
Remember the path for each Office version (the locations change with different versions of Office) and paste your saved DIC files in the same place where you found them after installing Office again. Office installs an empty custom.dic file, so you just replace it with yours.

I make backup copies of my DIC files every now and then, just to be on the safe side.
