I used to see visitor's country in Viewer ID field but I can not see it anymore, any reason for hiding this information?

Included with the ProZ.com Plus Package Feb 8, 2023

This was not in ProZ.com Plus Package, it was samply under Viewer ID code, this was sufficient to understand from which country my visitors come...

Disabling this feature from the standard package is not fair!

Can’t see it either Feb 10, 2023

I suddenly can’t see countries either. And I never opted out of it. Is it a bug?

Last time I reported a bug to ProZ, it took them a year to solve it. Fast and swift!

For us who paid for a membership, the difference made is that we don’t have a feature we paid for. For those who didn’t buy a membership, there’s no difference.

I can see sammers, untrusted visitors, useless searches, etc.

So you apparently know that 100% of profile visitors from certain countries belong to such groups.

Let's say you discover that an uncle sammer has visited your profile. Which concrete action would you take as a result of having gained this valuable piece of information? Call the police? Set up a filter to delete all emails from that country automatically? Intensify your marketing campaigns or strategies in non-sammer countries? Put an extra lock on your front door? I'm just trying to understand the practical value of this information.

You are aware, of course, that the country of origin can be masked through the use of VPNs, the Tor browser and possibly more. If for example a US site tells me they are so terrified of the GDPR that they block access from the EU, I start the Tor browser, which I have configured to say I'm in the US, and read the article there instead.

Countries Feb 10, 2023

I do not work with some countries, sometimes visitors contact me from these countries but they sign they are in another one...

Regarding GDPR, I am an IT sec specialist and giving the country or an information about the country is not forbidden.

This feature was working in Proz until 1 month ago and nothing changed in GDPR reglementations!

Yeah, I get that, but what difference does it make?

It's a pretty useless feature I would say. Who cares who visits? Who has time to worry about this?

I wouldn't say that I do not want to be contacted by outsourcers originating from certain countries, but it would help to identify whether an outsourcer, who claims to hold its premises in the City of London, contacts you from Moldavia (which isn't a bad country, not at all) or Sri Lanka (I love Sri Lanka), with all the consequences a lot of us already may have suffered (discussions about "best rates", payment conditions, etc., or even being scammed).

Visitor's country reappeared yesterday but disappeared again today. Could you fix this please?

Thanks.
