I was looking for a CAT that´s not as expensive as TRADOS for the time being- Wordfast, ForeignDesk... Does anybody know if these can be used with Linux and OpenOffice.
And another question, are Trados and ForeignDesk compatible.

it is compatible with Linux (Mandrake, XFCE, VMWare & Office 97)) and Linux (Suse, KDE2 + Crossover & Word 2000) and Yves Champollion is a very nice and helpful man. Price very reasonable (170 € only)and works like a breeze. Try the free version it is quite complete.
