Locking segments in Wordfast Pro 2.2.2 Thread poster: RWS Community
|
Hi,
I have a couple of quick "newbie" questions. Is it possible to lock segments in Wordfast Pro 2.2.2? If so, how do you do it? Also, is there a help online somewhere better than the product online help?
Thank you

AFAIK, there is no way to lock segments even in the latest version (3.1.0). | | | Locking segments in Wordfast Pro 3.x | Sep 12, 2012 |
Dear Paul,
In WFP 3.x, there is a PM Perspective feature to "hide 100%" segments from TXML files so that translators do not touch them. So in some sense, it is the same concept of "lock segments" but with a different approach.
Is there a clear reason for asking about 2.2.2? Wordfast upgrades are completely free for license holders.
Kind regards,

Thanks, Yasmin, for mentioning the possibility to hide 100% matches in WFP 3.x. However, it is not exactly the same as locking segments in other tools such as memoQ. In memoQ, you can lock segments that are not necessarily 100% matches (for instance, they can be numbers or other untranslatables that you have copied with CopySource). Also, you can have segments locked and still see them in their context when translating, which you cannot do if they are hidden. Having a separate "locked" status would be a useful feature in Wordfast Pro. | |

I know! However, in my replies, I usually try to take the opportunity to explain what might help fellow users use what they currently have, not caring much about survey makers, whoever.

Dear Yasmin,
I think only that I have not taken the time to upgrade my version of Wordfast Pro. But thank you for the reminder, I will do this as I take a better look at the current features.
Thank you
