Has anyone any idea why Wordfast has recently reduced the WF server licence period to three years, upon expiry of which it is now obligatory to renew one's server licence at half price along with WFPro licences?

Unified licensing scheme across client and server products?
Mar 14, 2013
I must admit I hadn't seen the "old" license agreement for Wordfast Server: where did you see it and what period did it mention?
I guess diamonds are forever, but Wordfast licenses are time-limited only
Given that the commercial client products (Classic, Pro) are sold on a subscription basis with a three-year validity period, it kind of makes sense to me the server product uses the same scheme.

If you believe the price of a Wordfast Server license is excessive, you can always ask SDL for a quote and compare. ▲ Collapse

Wordfast licenses last three years. After that period, the license must be renewed.
The renewal costs half the list price of your product at the time of renewal.

Initially I contacted WF's support that ensured me two times in writing that a WF server licence, as diamonds, was forever. However, when we requested a WF Commercial Offer, they seemed to have re-evaluated the cost of their diamonds, because their Sales Director stated that the licence period for all their products, including WF server, was three years, after which period it is now required to re-new the whole bunch (WF server + WFPro / WFClassic) at half price.

I have and it looks like WF is now trying to catch up with Trados's revenues the latter normally gets from its technical support:
Trados: Technical Support $1,000 * 3 years = $3,000.
WF server + 5 licences: 3500 Euro * 50% + (5 licences * 350 Euro) * 50% = 1750 Euro + 875 Euro = 2625 Euro ▲ Collapse
