Source text - German Kommentar zum 4. Quartal 2010
Quartal -0.95%.
Translation - English Comments on the 4th Quarter 2010
During this period, thanks to an emergent domestic economy, the global economy was able to recover, and growth was markedly reduced in the euro area during the final quarter. Continuing high volatility in the foreign exchange market, as well as the problematic national debt, remain great factors of uncertainty. The Swiss economy’s good starting position in the final quarter, led to robust growth, and to a clear revaluation of the Swiss Franc. The SNB left its target rate unchanged, due to an expected reduction in growth in the following quarter, as well as the favourable inflation forecast. In this climate, the Swiss Franc reached historic highs against the Euro and the US-dollar, stimulating the long-term interest rate from its low-point. The Swiss Bond Index lost -0.95% during the 4th quarter.
