Source text - English
| Translation - Russian The year that these events are dated
The seasons’ change was quite deferred,
For all the time that nature’s waited,
First snow fell January third.
Up early morn, Tatyana sighted
The yard, which now the snow has whited,
Roof, fence and flower bed within,
A layer on the glass was thin
And like a curly ornamental.
There, in the garden, magpies played,
While winter carpet’s sheet was laid
Atop the hillside, sparkling, gentle.
And there were trees in silver thaw,
And white and bright in all she saw. |
